Everything I do is coaching based, whether it’s private coaching or workshops I’m always gona coach and since you’re in my-World I felt it only right to let you know a few things about said-coaching. Coaching is actually helping the individual to improve their own performance: in other words, helping them to learn. This is based on my belief that the you always have the answer to your own problems but understand that you may need help to find the answer. I spoke about my journey to coaching on the podcast here.
It isn’t a crystal ball.
No, really it isn’t, coaches aren’t mystical beings who can somehow read your future and tell you how to get there. It’s quite the opposite sometimes. I often find myself on a call or in a workshop with folks who believe a few of the myths about coaching (or at least my-way of doing it) so I thought I’d un-pack some of them today:
I trust that you can lead yourself through coaching just like you lead yourself to it. Each session is shaped around what is coming up for you. That could be the thing on the plan or the human curveball that’s just risen up in your way. As high-achievers we find safety in structure, we love lists and processes but we aren’t inherently structured that way as humans, we’re messy, we have emotions, responses and reactions to everything which means it’s important that coaching stays flexible. I’ve never-not gotten a client their result simply because we went off-track. Who made up this track anyway? Not me!
It’s not. I bring curiousity and challenge, not in the way an innocent 4 year old asks you what your doing but the way someone who knows you gets curious. About the change in tone, shift in body language and the actual words you’ve just said for the 6th time in the row without noticing. Trust me, I notice and that can get uncomfortable.
Sometimes you just don’t have it yet. It’s easy to have a conversation which is 80% you and 20% me, with that 20% being questioned and feel like it’s some kind of quiz. Another assessment or measure of your smart-ness or savvy. Nope. There’s plenty of room for “I don’t know” in coaching and those can often be your most valuable things to take away and reflect on.
3 months. That’s how long you get to work with me when we work 1:1. Now, related to the aforementioned trust, you can decide if we speak once a month or every week for a few weeks but we’re going to be in it for the long haul. Just like you can’t find transformation in a freebie, you can’t find transformation (that sticks) without practice. That’s what it is. Much like doing a juice-fast for 5 days and then eating anything you like for 14 days it’s the consistency and intention that’s going to make a difference. Please note: the same dedication is needed for the Solo Session, the only difference is you go beyond the first session alone.
If you’re curious about coaching with me that’s great, I’ll continue to spill the beans and you can check out the deets here.
